The Northern Song Dynasty was very civilized period of China because during that time many people were willing to discover new things which improved people's lives. On the other hand Chinese Porcelain was discovered many years before this dynasty existed, but however this porcelain was still in development. During this period there were new wares discovered and started to be used. Qingbai was a very famous ware which became very popular in a such short period.
This ware, also called yingqing got this name from the Chinese words that meant a clear blue pattern in white. It has a special glaze that was made using pottery stone. However it also contained very small amounts of iron. If this ware is applied on a white porcelain body, it will receive a new color which is a pattern of green to blue. This ware was used to create bowls and these bowls were later painted on a Chinese village of Hutian. There is a very special bowl that is still present nowadays and it has a very special design. This design represented the reflection of clouds in the ocean. The body of this porcelain made bowl is white and also has a special touch made from sugar which meant that the bowl was created by using pottery stone instead of kaolin.
This special type of pottery is very appreciated nowadays too because it represents a long history and a vivid origin of it. There are many bowls, dishes, plates, and cups made off this qingbai ware that are still saved in famous art museums throughout the world. Another special characteristic of this ware is that it was made along a special glaze or without any glaze at all. If you are looking forward to purchasing one of these bowls or dishes yourself, prepare to pay a very high price. Good luck!
